Cookie Notice of Patagonia Europe Coöperatief U.A.

This cookie notice governs how Patagonia Europe Coöperatief U.A. (“Patagonia”, “we”, “our” or “us”) uses cookies and other digital technologies on the [patagonia-rufa.com] website ( the “Site”).

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small (temporary) text files we transfer to your device that enable the collection of information from your device (“Cookies”). Please refer to our Privacy Notice for information about how we process personal data collected on our Site.

Why does Patagonia use Cookies?

Patagonia uses Cookies on the Site to operate the Site, measure website audience, provide social media functionality and to enable advertising and advertising targeting. We may use the following categories of Cookies:

Strictly Necessary: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.

Functional: These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.

Analytical or Performance: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Site.   All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our Site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

Social Media & Advertising: These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the Site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

Targeting Cookies: These cookies may be set through our Site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

How can I make choices about Cookies and my privacy?

On the Site you can set your preferences regarding Cookies. You can do this by clicking the “Adjust Consent” link in the cookie banner on the Site. You can change your preferences at any time by disabling the use of functional and/or analytical/performance cookies and/or social media/advertising cookies and/or targeting cookies here. Of course, we prefer that you consent to the use of these types of cookies so that we can provide you with an optimal website experience and to help ensure that you aren’t shown non-relevant advertisements.

When you withhold your consent, this does not automatically delete any cookies that are already on your device pursuant to your previous consent. You will need to delete these cookies manually by following the instructions on your web browser.

Please note you will lose some functionality on the Site if you do not consent to us using all of the Cookies categories.

What Cookies does Patagonia use?

First and Third party Cookies commonly used on this Site are listed in the table below. We strive to keep this list up to date and will update it. In any event, you can always manage all cookies and other tracking technologies used on this Site through our cookie preference tool located here.

What other digital technologies does Patagonia use?

Web Pixels, Beacons and Widgets: Pixels are extremely small image files that, when loaded by your web browser, cause the browser to make a network request to the party corresponding to the pixel. We currently use the following pixels: the Twitter pixel; the Pinterest pixel; the Snap pixel; and the Reddit pixel. We use these pixels to measure the effectiveness of our ads and other communications on these platforms. If these cookies are currently stored in your browser, those cookies will be transmitted with the request. Widgets are small portable applications, that are installed and executed on the website. Widgets may place cookies on your device. We currently use the widget of Spotify (Privacy Policy and Terms of Use). This widget provides you with the possibility to listen to one of our Patagonia podcasts on Spotify.

HTML5 Local Storage: HTML5 Local Storage in the browser is different from cookies, but can be used for the same purpose (to identify you). You can control the purpose for which HTML5 Local Storage is used by using the cookie controls outlined above.

Social Network Interaction and Widgets: Social network widgets, buttons, and plug-ins on the Site passively transmit data regarding a social network’s members to that social network. These technologies may allow a social network (such as Twitter or YouTube) to personally identify its members and to know the web pages its members have visited. This is true wherever social network buttons are embedded. If you belong to a social network or use these categories of web services, you should review the privacy policies of those services to understand the nature of the data that they collect and what, if any, options the service offers to control how data is collected and used. If you disable advertising cookies, the passive tracking associated with these buttons will be blocked on our Site.

Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics (_ga and _gid cookies) upon your explicit given consent for the purpose of analysis and optimization of our website as well as the economic operation of this website. Google therefore processes the information on our behalf in order to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage for the purposes of market research. Your IP address, which is transmitted via your browser to Google Analytics, will not be associated with any other data held by Google.

IP anonymization: we use IP anonymization for Google Analytics. This means that Google abbreviates your IP address as soon as technically possible before transferring it from the European Economic Area. The anonymization process takes place within the European Union or the European Economic Area. We use the information collected by Google Analytics cookies to find out about how visitors use our website. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with any personal information. You can prevent Google Analytics cookies from being stored by setting your browser software accordingly. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at www.google.com.

We have enabled the Google Analytics advertising features, including the User ID feature in order to unify the sessions that a single user is making using different devices. This allows us to report on target audiences, demographics such as age, gender and interests of site visitors, as well as our marketing campaigns. With the help of these reports, we can evaluate the user behaviour in connection with our online offers even better and optimize the addressing of target groups.

If you do not wish your user behaviour to be included in these reports any more, you can withdraw your consent at any time with immediate effect, free of charge and without giving any reasons or deactivate this via our cookie consent tool. You can also limit collection by not signing in to your own Google Account when you visit our pages. More information on data privacy in relation to Google Analytics can be found on the Google Analytics Help page. For information on Google's use of data, please refer to its privacy policy.
